3 Days Old

Alley's filly is now three days old. I made a video yesterday of her adventures up to last night. It's at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfUTyEP13vkShe also had a halter put on and removed for the first time. She only wore it for about 2 minutes as she made the walk to the pasture. The halter is a suckling size and a little too big. But she'll grow into it soon.
No name yet - Cathy and Cindy are thinking hard.

New Filly

On Feb. 21, 2011 Smokin Up The Alley delivered a filly! The sire is Too Sleepy To Zip. Alley is a maiden mare and was fantastic through the delivery and is making a great mother. Don had to help her deliver as she didn't understand the concept of "pushing". The filly is sorrel, with a blaze and two white hind socks.
Many thanks to marestare.com and the members who offered support and helped with the foaling from afar. Knowing people were monitoring and watching Alley over the last several weeks alleviated much of the stress that can occur prior to foaling. It sure beat sleeping in the barn!
Today (the 22nd) our vet was out and both mother and filly got a clean bill of health. IgG levels were perfect.
Alley is owned by Cathy Hanson of Hanson Quarter Horses in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The filly is co-owned by Cathy and Cindy Carden.
TnHoney3 of marestare.com made a copy of the delivery and it can be seen at:
