Sheza Especial Gold and Don won the Junior Trail Class at the 2011 American Buckskin Registry Association's World show for the second year! Sheza also won Reserve World in open Western Riding; she was the only junior horse in the western riding class.
We've had Sheza since she was 18 months old - after buying her at the Heritage Place fall race-bred sale.
Don's ready to concentrate on Shawnee (a 3-year old by Zips Chocolate Chip), that we bought at the AQHA World sale last fall. So Sheza will be sold at the Reichert sale on September 9.
I hate to see her go, but in order to make money with horses, you need to sell them.
Here's the link to the sale video Reichert will be running when the sale book is available:

I've got two great books that need to go: Win With Bob Avila...retails for $39.95, you pay $5 plus $4.95 shipping. This book is a "mentoring" book in which Bob explains how he feels about horses, training, facilities and handling clients. Barrel Racing, training the Wright way....retails for $45, you pay $5 plus $4.95 (if I can ship that way...or $10.95) This book is fantastic...starts with the breeding of barrel horses and goes through everything from training to hauling to competing to fixing common problems...even discusses "ground conditions." Both books are new and in perfect condition. Send me an e-mail saying which book you want...first to order gets the books, we'll work out credit card payment later. donblazer@horsecoursesonline.com

3 Days Old
Alley's filly is now three days old. I made a video yesterday of her adventures up to last night. It's at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfUTyEP13vkShe also had a halter put on and removed for the first time. She only wore it for about 2 minutes as she made the walk to the pasture. The halter is a suckling size and a little too big. But she'll grow into it soon.
No name yet - Cathy and Cindy are thinking hard.

New Filly
On Feb. 21, 2011 Smokin Up The Alley delivered a filly! The sire is Too Sleepy To Zip. Alley is a maiden mare and was fantastic through the delivery and is making a great mother. Don had to help her deliver as she didn't understand the concept of "pushing". The filly is sorrel, with a blaze and two white hind socks.
Many thanks to marestare.com and the members who offered support and helped with the foaling from afar. Knowing people were monitoring and watching Alley over the last several weeks alleviated much of the stress that can occur prior to foaling. It sure beat sleeping in the barn!
Today (the 22nd) our vet was out and both mother and filly got a clean bill of health. IgG levels were perfect.
Alley is owned by Cathy Hanson of Hanson Quarter Horses in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The filly is co-owned by Cathy and Cindy Carden.
TnHoney3 of marestare.com made a copy of the delivery and it can be seen at:

Babe's foal was active tonight
The foal was awake while I groomed Babe tonight. I don't think Babe likes it when the foal is moving around, she shifts her weight and looks peaved. I guess it would be a different feeling when the foal is kicking, so I can't blame her!
Babe's foal is a lot more active than Alley's. Alley is due Feb. 16. I wonder if that means Babe's is a colt??? We'll see.
Babe's starting to shed. She better not start too early - it's to be cold here next week.
